How to Enable Fast Weapon Switching in Counter Strike

Ever wondered how people can change guns so fast, or reload at seemingly super hero like speeds? Well its because they have fast weapon switching enabled. By default it is turned off.

   Open Counter Strike, and preferably be connected to a server so that you can test it.

   Open the console. This is typically done by pressing the tilde (~) key on the keyboard.

   Once the console is open, type in hud_fastswitch "1" with or without the quotes, either way it should work. Press enter to accept. It is now setup.

   Test it by pressing 1 and then 2 and than back to 1 - if it switches immediately then it is enabled. If not, go back, and try it without the quotes.

EditTips

• If you have more then one grenade type, then pressing 4 will not auto switch to the grenade - you will still need to confirm and select which one you want manually.
• In Counter Strike Source, this option can be checked under the advanced options in the keyboard configuration menu.
